Augmentin 875mg/125mg Film-Coated Tablets

Amoxicillin-Clavulanic Acid

Composition:

Each tablet contains: Amoxicillin (trihydrate) – 500 mg; Clavulanic acid (potassium salt) – 125 mg.
Excipients: Colloidal silica, potato starch (sodium), magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose 5, hypromellose 15, macrogol 4000, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E171), dimethicone.

Indications:

Augmentin is a bactericidal antibiotic that destroys bacteria causing infections. It is used in children and adults for the treatment of:

• Middle ear infections and sinusitis

• Respiratory tract infections

• Urinary and genital tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections, including dental infections

• Bone and joint infections

Contraindications:

Allergy to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillin, or any other component of Augmentin. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other antibiotics (manifested as skin rash or facial/throat swelling) should not use this medicine. Caution is required in patients with liver problems or jaundice related to antibiotic use.

Precautions before use:

Consult a doctor or pharmacist if the patient has:

• Mononucleosis

• Liver or kidney disease

• Irregular urination

Important Information:

It is necessary to complete the full course of treatment; incomplete treatment may result in relapse. Patients undergoing blood or urine tests should inform their doctor, as Augmentin can alter laboratory results.

Interactions with other medications:

• Concurrent use with allopurinol may trigger allergic skin reactions.

• When taking probenecid, the doctor may adjust the dose.

• Concurrent use with antiaggregants (e.g., warfarin) requires additional blood testing.

• Augmentin can affect the action of methotrexate.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Patients who are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or are breastfeeding should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Driving and operating machinery:

Patients should not drive or operate machinery if they feel unwell.

Dosage and Administration:

Augmentin should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. Tablets are to be swallowed whole with a glass of water before meals. Doses should be at least 4 hours apart. Do not take two doses simultaneously. Treatment should not exceed two weeks.

• Adults and children ≥40 kg: Therapeutic dose – 1 tablet twice daily; high dose – 1 tablet three times daily.

• Children <40 kg: For children under 6 years, oral suspension is used. Before giving tablets to children <40 kg, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Patients with liver or kidney disorders:

Dosage may need adjustment. The doctor will decide on dose correction or alternative therapy. Frequent blood tests may be needed to monitor liver function in patients with liver disease.

Overdose Symptoms:

Abdominal or gastrointestinal irritation (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) or cramps. In such cases, contact a doctor immediately and ideally keep the medicine or packaging available.

Missed Dose:

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. Do not take the next dose if the interval between doses is less than 4 hours.

Side Effects:

Treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted if the patient develops:

• Skin rash

• Vascular inflammation (red or bluish spots on the skin or other body parts)

• Fever

• Joint pain

• Seizures

• Swelling of glands in the neck, armpits, or groin

• Fainting
